Either call your parents (or friends or other relatives) and ask them to buy you a new ticket or wire you the money or go to the authorites and say you are there illegally and wish to be deported (probably means you wont be coming back though). Good luck.

I would worry more about the fact that depending on where you are from, unless you are a EU citizen, if you have no work permit, I assume you don't have residency which means they will throw you out, and fine or arrest you if you stay too long. If you are American you can only stay 90 days from the date you entered the country. YOu need to call the embassy TODAY!!!!!!

If the two of you are married and he's there legally, he is responsible for helping you financially. However, since you don't have a permit, I'm not sure how it would work. If you've been in Sweden longer than 90 days, you are there illegally, and your only option is going back to the US. You really need to speak to someone at the American Embassy. Anything people say here is just speculation, and you need someone that knows your legal rights and the rules regarding this. I know it probably sounds scary in your situation, but I think they are the only ones that can really help you. It will be difficult, if not impossible, to get work to fund a ticket home. The State Department sometimes loans money to help people get home in dire situations. The embassy is located at Dag Hammarskjölds Väg 31, if you are in Stockholm you could go there in person. I think the closest tunnelbana station is Karlaplan. Otherwise, you could call or email them, especially if you want to stay anonymous until you find out what will happen: +46 (0)8 783 5375 Telephone hours: 1:00 - 2:00 PM, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday stkacsinfo@state.gov "Please include a daytime telephone number in your e-mail. We strive to answer your e-mail within two business days" There are a few forums for expats in Sweden where you could ask for advice, but as a warning, not everyone will be nice to you due to the situation. http://www.amerikanska.com/ http://www.awcstockholm.org/sweden.htm http://lostinsweden.com/ Meanwhile, you could try posting a bulletin in your neighborhood, advertising English tutoring or babysitting. I worked off the record as a tutor to a Korean family when I lived in Stockholm (they paid me in cash) and it may be possible for you to get a little work this way. You could also try English/American/Australian pubs and bars. Although they aren't likely to hire you illegally, there's always a chance someone will sympathise with your situation and help out with a small job. I normally wouldn't condone illegal work, but you seem to be a little stuck without it. I know what it's like to be in a foreign country (though legally) without money or family to help out. If you have overstayed the 90 day limit, you may receive a ban to Schengen countries (usually for 5 years) but I think it's unlikely you will be prosecuted or fined in your situation. It's happened to people before, but a ban seems to be most common these days.

Best thing to do is phone family and ask them to pay for a ticket. Next time make sure it really is love before moving halfway around the world.

When you leave would you mind bringing along your Iraqi friend to the US? It's only fair that the US ends up footing the bill for ruining his country and Sweden.

OK, your from the US. So you were just in Sweden for vacation? You need to have a visa if you want to stay for longer than 90 days. You can only get a visa by going back to the US and applying from there. However, t is not likely that you will be granted one considering Sweden's recent spike in immigration and the fact that you have no family ties in order to come here. Call the American Embassy in Stockholm or Göteborg and tell them your situation. It's better that you tell the truth now to not be in any sticky situations with the law. Good luck!
